Germany is absolutely beautiful. It has a sort of authentic beauty that’s evident wherever you are. It’s full of history and the culture is so unique!
One of my favorite things about Germany was the Heidelberg Palace. Germany is filled with old castles, most of Europe is! I could visit castle ruins all day long. It’s like walking through an enchanted story that’s filled with mystery and romance.
Heidelberger Schloss was built in 1214 and has since seen a ton of history. A lot of the castle has been destroyed from hundreds of wars, lightning strikes, and fires. I can’t imagine how big it was when they built it because it is still ginormmous!
The castle also holds one of Germany’s oldest pharmacies in the Apothecary Tower. The chemistry lab connected to the pharmacy is filled with some of the first experimental equipment. Here are some of the different flasks and laboratory glasses!
Also for those who survived organic chemistry this is one of the first steam distillation apparatuses. Good thing they made some advancements cause otherwise we’d still be trying to put this thing together…
The castle sits up on Königstuhl hill giving it such a pretty view! Outside the castle walls are some of the cutest town houses.
If you love castles or history check out some of these castles that are right here in the states 🙂 I hope you enjoyed a glimpse of Germany; have a great week! ♥
