Paris is such a beautiful city. While I was writing this I heard of the terror attack that happened at Notre Dame earlier this morning. There was also an attack at the Louvre and Champs- Elyséees during February and April. Not to mention, London, Manchester, and the many others that have been leading up to these. It makes me sick to my stomach that people hate so much their willing to kill. Jesus told us that Satan comes to kill, steal, and destroy. And while sin seems to be swallowing us whole- cling to what is good, and remember the hope that Christ has given to those who believe!

“God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the Earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea …”
Pslam 46:1-2

When I hear of the attacks it’s easy for me to ask God for justice- to want the people involved in planning the attacks to suffer and hurt. But maybe I could take that energy and pray instead. Pray for the extremists, their country, and their families. Pray that they would see the beauty of Christ and the power of his gospel. Because they too can be made new and work for the kingdom. Remember how God used Paul?

And so though it feels a bit weird to write about the fun times we had in Paris, we will continue to share the beauty of this place because only light can take away darkness.

We decided to hit Paris for a couple days because it was only a 2 hour train ride from where we were staying in Germany. This was way nicer and more convenient than flying… highly recommend!

First up, the Louvre! It was so neat to see some of the most famous art from all over the world. I am not huge into all the paintings and sculptures, but I love history and ancient artifacts.

My favorite part of the Louvre was Napoleon’s apartments. It was so neat to imagine all the kings, queens, princes, and princess walking around in these beautiful rooms. In 1682, Louis XIV decided to live in the Palace of Versailles; the Louvre, no longer a palace, began the process of becoming a museum instead.

Here is a little glimpse of some of the art throughout. We also caught a picture of the Mona Lisa, but it was so hard haha. The portrait is actually super small with bullet proof glass around it and a large crowd surrounding it. The Mona Lisa is so famous because no matter where you look at her from, her eyes always seem to follow you!

Next, we visited Notre Dame. Wow was it beautiful! It took over 200 years to build and it is still an up and running cathedral that holds regular mass.
